Prodigals Can Help
There’s Tsunami of Human Pain Crashing Across American and The Church
In a 2013 article, The Huffington Post cited that porn sites get more visitors each month than Netflix, Amazon and Twitter combined. In fact, 30 percent of all data transferred across the internet is porn.
This Tsunami of porn is crashing like a tidal wave in the form of sex addiction. Its casualties include families in your community and in your congregation. With the advent of the smart phone, teens and young adults are at an especially high risk for exposure and potential addiction.
Let Prodigals International Be Your Resource to Help You Help the Men and Families in Your Church
Our comprehensive sex addiction recovery ministry can provide the resources, 12-step educational materials, and network of support to guide people in your congregations to healing and recovery.
Prodigals Homecoming Groups for Men Struggling with Sex Addiction
Our weekly, mentor-led 12-step meetings provide safe, Christ-centered places for men to build authentic, transparent relationships with other men going through the recovery process. Meeting include worship, Scripture readings, teaching, videos and personal sharing.
Recovered addicts lead newcomers in an intensive one-on-one process that lasts 9 to 12 months. Mentees read a number of books, complete weekly written exercises relating to the 12 Steps, make daily accountability phone calls and meet with their mentor for an hour outside of the Homecoming meeting. When they begin the program, all mentees are asked to agree to mentor other newcomers after they have completed their year-long recovery journey, establishing a self-perpetuating leadership development for the program.
Though not required, we strongly encourage Homecoming Group members to simultaneously work with a professional Christian counselor on the underlying issues that may be fueling the addiction. Men can meet with a Prodigals Counselor, or we can refer them to a counselor in their local community.
Prodigals also provides counseling to whole families for the escalating issue of teenagers becoming addicted to online porn or other sexually compulsive behaviors such as “sexting” or sharing inappropriate photos/images via smart phones and computer devices.
Support for Women – Partners in Process
For wives and girlfriends of men who are struggling with sex addiction, Partners in Process offers weekly support groups to minister to the specific needs a woman faces during her partner’s recovery.
